 NIGHT OF JOY

SIZING AND CONDITION

Vintage Condition

Vintage apparel can distinctly set us apart in style, connect us with another decade or generation, and transform a mundane gathering into an event.  Full enjoyment of the vintage experience requires an understanding of what it is – and isn’t.

Pre-Worn Vintage

Vintage is not new.  Most of it is pre-owned, pre-worn, and hopefully, pre-loved.  Before appearing on these pages, Night of Joy pre-worn vintage is restored to “Very Good” to “Excellent” condition (repairs or alterations we make or that we're aware others have made will be disclosed in the item descripton). This merchandise will always arrive at your door with a history, but it will be clean, pressed and ready to wear.

New Old Stock             New Old Stock is vintage that has never been worn. While not new, these items also have a history. They have been to the dressing room and home "on approval". They were hung on racks,  folded in boxes or piled in a heap. We like to think they have been patiently waiting to be discovered.

To preserve history we disturb our “New Old Stock” as little as p ossible. We ship it to you as we found it with the boxes, packaging, tags, and pins. Because the years have gently deposited dust, make up smudges, and other markers of time, we recommend cleaning New Old Stock before wearing.

Retro

The few Night of Joy items liste d as Retro are contemporary creations with vintage design. While we would love to be classified as purist, these garments and accessories are worth the sacrifice.

Vintage Sizing

Vintage clothing labels have often worn or washed away. Many garments are handcrafted with no label. Because the height and width of the average person has increased over the years labels that have survived will not be true to size. For this reason, it is essential that both you and the vintage garment are accurately measured to ensure a good fit.

All of our garments are measured as accurately as possible and reported in the item description. You can estimate the fit of our clothing by comparing our measurements to those of a good fitting garment you own, or to those of your own body. Please make use of our instructions, models, and size chart before ordering.
